1. Accept the Bitter Creek rescue mission
Marshal S. Douglas gives the mission upstairs in the Marshal’s office. The objective is to check on the team at Bitter Creek; if they are dead, the player is told to recover Sarah’s medical bag.
2. Speak with Sarah
At Bitter Creek, Sarah explains that the bag was lost when her carriage broke down by the gate. Do not search the entire settlement first—the clue points back to a specific roadside object.
3. Find the broken carriage near the gate
Both playthroughs move to the gate and search beside the broken carriage or wagon. The bag lies low and blends into the ground, so slow down and scan the immediate area instead of riding past.
4. Make room before pickup
One recording reaches the bag with a full inventory and discards an item before collecting it. Keeping one slot free avoids mistaking an inventory problem for a missing quest object.
5. Return to Marshal S. Douglas
Take the bag back upstairs to the Marshal. Both routes show the mission completing after the return dialogue. The demo recordings show a storage belt, morphine, and filters during the reward sequence, but this reward should be rechecked in Early Access.
